Quail Rock Bed & Breakfast. Alexandra Central Otago New Zealand

Home

High above Alexandra, Quail Rock Bed and Breakfast commands spectacular views over the township, the mighty Clutha River and for as far as the eye can see over the iconic Central Otago countryside. But there's much more to Quail Rock than breathtaking vistas.

Hosts Robyn and Geoff McKenzie have transformed almost 1.6 hectare (4 acres) of grounds into arguably Alexandra's most beautiful garden. Capitalising on the natural landscape of weather-hewn schist rocks and outcrops, Robyn and Geoff have created a 'garden of discovery'. Here, groomed lawns and hidden paths lead to unexpected delights; a quiet spot to relax and enjoy a glass of local pinot; or a bountiful orchard offering fresh produce. Not surprisingly the Quail Rock's garden is also a popular location for wedding photographs.

Quail Rock has been built with relaxation & comfort in mind. Your private guest wing includes modern furnishings, and local art is displayed throughout. You can choose from two rooms which both have access to the guest lounge.

  • Queen bed with ensuite & french doors leading to Quail Rock's garden
  • Twin room offering two king single beds
  • Bathroom with bath, shower & toilet

Don't just stop for an overnight break - stop and smell the roses. Quail Rock is the perfect place to base yourself for two to three nights while exploring the delights of the Dunstan region or as an unforgettable way to start of finish your Otago Central Rail Trail adventure. Hosts Robyn and Geoff are happy to collect and deliver guests and their bikes to and from the trail. For the more energetic, Quail Rock is only a 20 minute walk from the heart of Alexandra, less on a bike and under five minutes by car.
